“Class is knocked out of the picture in the opening voice-over: Whereas the novel’s Nick Carraway was told, growing up, to “remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had,” the film’s Nick Carraway is told to “try to see the best in people.” Which is a very different task, and a completely apolitical one to boot.”

OH, BAZ LUHRMANN, HOW YOU FUCKING SUCK

I love Moulin Rouge. But if he wanted to make another movie about highly romanticized loved and shiny shiny costumes and ~partying on all night yeah~

he should have picked another project, instead of ripping the freaking spine out of The Great Gatsby and delivering its glittery corpse to an American audience that doesn’t want to think about exactly the things he’s ripped out

turning it in to a mockery of itself that actually contributes to the very things it critiques

What’s the logical course of action if you love Ender’s Game and are crying-level excited for the movie, but you also think that Orson Scott Card and his views are reprehensible and you don’t want to give him your money ever?

I did AP Bio my junior year. The written portion is the worst. Just keep writing. Just keep saying relevant things. I did mostly that and I got a 5.

I’m just really nervous because it’s so much content! I took a practice test, and all of the multiple choice questions were about…relative organelle pH and stuff like that; it was awful. I’ve luckily had a really good teacher, but we weren’t able to get through a bunch of the chapters due to time issues, so even with independent work, the physiology and ecology sections are really shaky for me. Did you have any issues with the time constraints?
